THE END OF AN ERA
The remaining few phone booths in Coronado signals the end of an era, a technology, and a bygone way of life. We no longer have any need to save nickels, dimes, and quarters or ask for change for the phone.
In Manhattan all phone booths have been removed and replaced with “information centers.”
I have the fondest memories of the old wooden phone booth in the Coronado Pharmacy back in the left corner by the druggist area. I used it for making and receiving telephone calls…but my little sister Joanie, who was a little rascal.. would stuff napkins up the money slot and pull them out & the nickles or dimes would come pouring out! LOL!
Haha! I remembeer using that phone when I worked at Coronado Pharmacy .. also remember little Joanie doing her trick with the money slot. She was a darling little rascal!!
